CSME Chapter Grant Applications
The CSME supports events organized by CSME Student Chapters. Technical or professional development activities such as seminars, talks, and tours may be supported through a CSME grant, including support tools required to run the event.
Up to $500 per Chapter
Reimbursement of up to $500 of events-related expenses that are not otherwise paid or funded by other means/sources.
Online Meeting Tools
Reimbursement may also include a licence for an online meeting tool that costs up to $200/year.
Examples of eligible activities
- Networking events and ice-breakers
- Seminars and talks
- Local plant tours and facility visits
- Professional or technical development activities
How to Apply
You must submit an application for chapter event funding and have it approved by the Chair of the Student Affairs Committee prior to the event taking place.
1. Download the Application Form
Use the official CSME Chapter Activity Application Form (Word document) provided below.
2. Complete the Form
Provide event details and an itemized budget for the activity your Chapter is planning.
3. Email the Completed Form
Send it to Dan Romanyk (dromanyk@ualberta.ca), Chair, CSME Student Affairs Committee.
4. Wait for Approval Before the Event
The event must be approved by the Chair before it takes place in order to be eligible for reimbursement.

Download Application FormAfter Your Event: Summary Report
To receive the provisionally approved grant, a Chapter Event Summary Report must be submitted within 15 days of completion of the event, and sent to the same Committee Chair listed above.
The completed Summary Report must include:
- The official Summary Report form (Word)
- The event budget and relevant documentation/receipts
- 2–3 photographs of the event (about 1 MB each) for possible publication in the CSME Bulletin or website
- Submission within 15 days of completion of the event
