MANDATE

The objectives of the CSME Solid Mechanics Technical Committee (CSME-SM) are to promote, foster, organize, and coordinate activities concerning the topics related to solid mechanics in Canada and to represent Canada’s interests in solid mechanics advancement at the international level. The Solid Mechanics Technical Committee shall serve as a formal medium for overseeing and coordinating conferences, colloquia, symposia, and other technical meetings, and it shall promote innovation and excellence in fundamental and applied research and academic activities in the solid mechanics area that take place within Canada. The area spans from theoretical, computational, and experimental studies on principles of solid mechanics to next generation of rationally-designed materials/structures realized by adopting solid mechanics and material selection principles along with advanced/additive manufacturing and computational/optimization techniques. The major duty is to organize a Symposium on Solid Mechanics at the annual CSME Congress; other responsibilities include the promotion of TC opportunities within the solid mechanics community, participation in the symposium by submitting or reviewing papers, and communicating with session participants.
